This year's camp was extra special. It was not only the 50th annual camp, it was also the last time Master Yaguchi would be teaching at the Camp. His is retiring in December 2016. It has been an honor to have him at the Master Camp every year. He will be missed sorely. We wish him the very best in his retirement.
The Cabin 30 crowd of Colorado group, Milo, Jeff, Gordon, Marius, the Western Region, Sensei Coburn, Dave, Julian, and Barry, Northwest companions Ken and Ryan. We were able to get some good meals off site. The camp food was characterized by scrums over the salad bar.
Overall the genuine camaraderie was infectious.
Camp Green Lane was a nice change for those us from the hot summer desert - the weather was relatively cool in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania with plenty of green grass and trees. The weather started cold, precipitating a Walmart run for blankets , but warmed up pleasantly, happiness is a dry Gi.
All of the Master Camps have been outstanding with the 50th being one the most memorable. The ISKF Western Region members in attendance congratulate ISKF headquarters and volunteers staff for all the hard work and countless hours in hosting this terrific event.
If you are a practioner of Shotokan Karate and have never been to Master Camp, we highly recommend it - one the world's best traditional karate camps. It's an awesome experience to train with our karate brother and sisters from around the world in one setting.
The ISKF Western Region looks forward to the 2017 Master Camp.
